Physically Manipulated Photographs high school art

Photoshop is a neat tool, BUT going old school and printing out a photograph and attacking it with a scratch tool and bottles of ink-that has fun written all over it.

Another outside-the-box skill building assignment. The mannequins have returned as props. Below are the results. Sorry for some of the glare.

Chalk Pastel Nudes High School AP Art

Well, we can't exactly bring in nude models to draw, but we can use mannequins. Thanks to the senior class who didn't know how to dispose of a dozen or so mannequins from their awesome haunted house a few weeks back, I was more than happy to take them off their hands.

This by far has been a favorite for my HS Art/AP classes. For some, working and learning to control the chalk has been a challenge. Below are some of the results that have filtered in.

Chalk Pastel flowers Middle School Art

One of the major set backs of doing chalk pastels in this city is not having a fixative. Normally we would use hairspray. But since the economic situation has worsen here, a lot imports aren't coming through. I went to the local art store and the best they could give me is clear spray paint. Didn't even know clear spray paint existed. What did I have to lose?

The results on the student work was that it made it darker and some of the finer detail was lost, specially the softness. I feel like I didn't have any other options. Perhaps you kind reader might have a suggestion to keep the chalk on the paper and keep it from getting smudged.

We have quite a collection of greenery on campus. The student had the opportunity to walk around and choose what they wanted to draw.
