High School Art Exhibit

The exhibit my Year 1 IB Visual Arts students curated was a hit. They received a lot of positive feedback from peers, teachers, and administration. The pieces were made up of my Grade 9/10 Photography class. The videos/shorts from my Grade 9 Film studies class. I even let my  Y1 IBDP VA class add a couple of pieces. Below is evidence of the selection process, preparations, and pieces from the show.

Cleaning the display boards
Decisions on grouping the photos.
Getting that panel squeaky clean.
Listening to the rational
First round of customer.
Get the kids talking about art early on.

HS Oil Painting Self-Portarits

In the spirit of building skills. My IB Year 1 Visual Art students started the year learning oil painting techniques. Not a single student had prior experience using oils. As I told the class at the beginning of the project, "this won't be your best oil painting, but it will be your most important one." Below are the results.

The example I made in class. Shameless self-promotion.
